House Rules & Guidelines
Learn more about the expectations we have of you while onsite.
Welcome to Your Oakland Park Retreat
Our focus is to ensure safety, consistency, and a great stay. Please follow the rules below and let us know if you have any questions.
House Rules
General:
- Evacuation: All guests must promptly evacuate if there is an official evacuation order issued by local or state authorities.
- Age Requirement: The primary renter must be at least 25 years old.
- Guest Limit: Up to 8 registered guests are allowed. Additional guests must be pre-approved and cannot stay overnight.
- Parties & Gatherings: No parties, events, or large gatherings are allowed.
- Filming/Photography: Professional photography and filming are not permitted.
- Parking: Two parking spaces are provided in the driveway. Please notify us if you require short-term parking for an additional car.
- Pets: Due to severe family allergies, no pets of any kind are allowed. Unauthorized pets will incur a $500 cleaning fee.
- Smoking & Vaping: Smoking or vaping is prohibited both inside the home and on the property.
- Furniture: Do not move any furniture.
- No Removal of Items: Items should not be removed from the property, except for beach equipment, which must be returned promptly.
- Laundry: Limited to 1-2 loads per stay. No excessive laundry or clothes dyeing.
Outside Rules:
- No Glass Near the Pool: Glass items are not permitted in the pool area to ensure safety.
- Observe Pool Rules: Please review all pool rule signs for additional guidelines.
- Supervision Required: Children must be supervised at all times while in or around the pool.
- Swim at Your Own Risk: Use the pool and hot tub at your own risk. Always adhere to posted signage.
- Use the Stairs: For your safety, use the stair to the right of the property to access to meditation terrace as opposed to stepping down, over the rocks, from the ledge.
Noise, Trash, and Parking (City Ordinance)

Noise Levels: Sound must not exceed 60 DBA from 7 AM – 10 PM and 55 DBA from 10 PM – 7 AM when measured at the property line. Excessive noise beyond these levels constitutes a disturbance and can result in fines or eviction. Please review the noise ordinance in the onsite manual or contact the host for more information.

Trash & Recycling: All trash and recyclables must be placed completely inside the designated outdoor bins. While trash is typically handled by the cleaning team, pickup occurs Tuesday (garbage + recycling) and Friday (garbage). Bins must be placed out by 7 AM and brought back in by 11 PM. Trash left outside designated areas may result in fines. For more details, see the ordinance section in the onsite manual or contact the host.

Parking: Parking is only permitted in designated areas. Parking outside these areas may result in fines or eviction. Please review the onsite parking sketch and ordinance section in the onsite manual or contact the host for more information.
Additional Considerations
- Pool Heating: The pool can be heated seasonally on request with 3 hours' notice (between 9 AM – 11 PM). We expect usage around 4 hours per day with free heating during the timeframe you choose. If you wish to have the pool heated for a longer period of time please reach out to us so we can arrange a payment option ($25 fee for 4 extra hours).
- Spa Heating: The hot tub can be heated with 2 hours' notice (between 9 AM – 11 PM). We expect usage around 4 hours per day with free heating during the timeframe you choose. If you wish to have the spa heated for a longer period of time please reach out to us, so we can arrange a payment option ($25 fee for 4 extra hours).
- Outdoor Furniture: Cover the outdoor patio furniture if bad weather is expected and at the end of your stay.
- Mini Golf: Return putters and golf balls to their original place in the Primary bedroom.
- Outdoor Projector: If used, please return the projector, Firestick, and boombox to the TV cabinet.
- Beach Equipment: If used, shake out beach items and place them near the patio door.
- Phone Use: The phone is only available for emergency use.
- Thermostat: The temperature can be set between 72°F and 82°F. Anything outside this range will automatically adjust.
- Cleaning Fee: Our cleaning fee covers normal use. Additional cleaning fees will apply if the home is left in excessive disarray.
Issues During Stay: Please notify us of any issues within 24 hours of check-in. If we are not informed, we assume you are satisfied with the accommodations.
Violations: Failure to follow the rules can result in fines or eviction. If you anticipate having issues following any rule, you may cancel for a full refund up to five days before your reservation starts.
Renter's Agreement
To confirm your booking, you'll be required to sign a renter's agreement. This document ensures all guests are aligned with the house rules and expectations for a smooth stay. Key points covered include adherence to safety guidelines, responsible use of the property, guest limits, noise restrictions, and care of the home’s amenities. Signing the agreement helps us maintain the home in top condition and ensures a pleasant experience for all guests. The agreement will be sent to you upon booking for review and signature.
Tips for a Great Stay
Inside:
- No Shoes: Please avoid wearing outside shoes indoors to minimize germs and critters. Slippers are available for your convenience.
- Thermostat: The range is set between 72-82°F. Settings outside this range will automatically be adjusted.
- Water Filtration: The home is equipped with a water filtration system.
- Doors: Due to heat and location near canal, please keep doors closed unless actively in use.
Kitchen:
- Induction Stove: The stove is induction. Only induction-compatible cookware will work. To use, select the burner and adjust heat with the control knob. Do not slide anything across the surface, as this may cause scratches.
- Cleaning Tips: We suggest using parchment paper to line pans when using the oven and covering items in the microwave to simplify cleanup. If you don’t know how to use an appliance, please reach out!
- Cutting Boards: Please use provided cutting boards (located in the top, right drawer of the island) to avoid damage to countertops.
- Plastic Drinkware & Wheat Straw Dining Ware: To help you abide by the no-glass-near-the-pool rule, we provide high-quality plastic drinkware and wheat straw dining ware. Please confirm availability and setup with the host.
Bedrooms/Living Room:
- Primary Suite 2: Requires a step down—please take care.
- Remotes: Remotes for TVs and fans are stored in baskets in each room. Please return them to their baskets at the end of your stay.
- TV Login: Feel free to log into your own streaming accounts (Netflix, Max, Hulu, etc.), but remember to log out before leaving.
Laundry:
- Detergent: Pre-loaded for 1-2 cycles. Use the touchpad to select your cycle.
- Prohibited: No clothes dyeing, or washing of heavily soiled items.
Bathroom:
- Makeup Removal: Please use the black towels for makeup removal to avoid staining the white towels.
- No Hair Dye: Please do not dye hair in the bathrooms or anywhere onsite.
Outdoor Tips & Requests:
- Pool Safety: Pool safety is a top priority. Please supervise children at all times and avoid running near the pool.
- Caution Near Ledges: Be cautious near the pool's ledge to prevent accidents.
- Maintain Comfort: Keep doors closed when not in use to maintain indoor comfort, as this is a natural environment.
- Insect Repellant: We regularly spray for pests, but it's still advisable to bring insect repellant, especially when spending time outdoors.
- Maintenance Services: Pool cleaning typically happens on Thursday mornings/afternoons. Pest control and lawn care are performed as needed. We will do our best to notify you in advance of any visits.

Check-Out Instructions
- Gather Used Towels: Place all towels on the floor of the shower.
- Trash & Recycling: Ensure all trash/recyclables are bagged, tied, and placed in the outdoor bins.
- Food: Please remove any food you’ve purchased from the refrigerator and pantry.
- Dishes: Take all used dishes and silverware and put them in the dishwasher. If you used appliances like the Blender, be sure to wipe down and set on the counter or sink.
- Log Out: Log out of any subscription services you’ve used on the TVs.
- Turn Off: Ensure all TVs, lights, and appliances are turned off.
- Return Remotes: Place remotes back in their respective baskets.
- Lock Up: Ensure all doors and windows are locked.
- Pool Equipment: Place pool floats in the outdoor bin.
- Mini Golf: Return putters and balls to their original place in Primary Suite 2.
- Outdoor Projector (if used): Return the projector, Firestick, and boombox to the cabinet below the TV.
- Beach Equipment (if used): Shake out beach items and place them near the patio door.
Respect for the Property
Please consider this our actual home, not just a rental. If you believe following these rules will be an issue, we’re happy to fully refund your stay up to five days before the reservation start date. Violations of house rules may result in fines or eviction. If you have any questions or need clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
